Department of Logic

The main fields of research are philosophical and symbolic logics. In the works of the department's faculty a fundamental development has been obtained in the area of non-classical logics, namely relevant logics, many-valued logics, alethetic, epistemic, deontic, temporal and other modal logics and also the applications of logic to the problems of the philosophy and methodology of science. The problems of non-classical logics still take the central part of the department's research. Recently, a lot of attention has been given to the logical analysis of paradoxes and to the applications of logic in computer science and theory of argumentation.

The departent publishes the journal "Logical investigations".
