Event Details: The Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences invites contributions to the International Conference with the title “Culture – the Ascension to Humanity”. The Conference is dedicated to the 150^th anniversary of Albert Schweitzer and will be held from the 21^st to the 22^nd of January, 2025.

The Albert Schweitzer’s most important work “Philosophy of Culture” reflects on modern perspectives and the history of the philosophy of culture, on the nature of humanity and the essence of humanism, ethics, values, and life. The Conference focuses on and problematizes modern meanings of “Philosophy of Culture” and their topicality in the interdisciplinary context.

-       The Fate of Humanism

-       Health, Medicine and the Value of Life

-       Philosophy of Culture in the Structure of the Humanities

-       Methods and Approaches in Cultural Studies

-       The philosophy of music

Important dates:

-       Applications for organizing sections and round-table discussions submission until July 1, 2024

-       The application for participation submission until October 1, 2024

-       Notification of paper acceptance on November 1, 2024

-       The conference program will be available on December 15, 2024

Terms and Conditions of Attendance:

Applications for organizing sections and participation in the conference are accepted by e-mail to the Organizing Committee: Culture-iph@iphras.ru (executive secretary of the conference - Anastasia Kucherova).

The application for organizing a session or a round-table discussion within the conference should include: title, abstract, list of participants (at least 4 people), contact information of the session supervisor (phone number, e-mail).

The application for participation in the conference should include: first name, last name, work place, job title, academic degree, academic status, paper title, paper abstract (no more than 4000 characters), contact information (phone number, email address).

Unfortunately, the Organizing Committee is not able to pay travel expenses for the participants of the Conference. Travel expenses are expected to be paid by the sending party.

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to select papers for publication. Selected papers are planned to be published in a book on the results of the Conference.
