The Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences makes a significant contribution to the process of integrating academic research and higher education in Russia. The Institute is the country’s central institution for preparing the reform of philosophical education, introducing innovative approaches, creating new educational standards, programmes and manuals in philosophical disciplines. In particular, fellows of the Institute have published new manuals of Philosophy (A.G. Spirkin, I.T Frolov), Ethics (R.G. Apresyan, A.A. Guseinov), Aesthetics (V.V. Bychkov), Cultural Studies (P.S. Gurevich, V.M. Rozin), Logic (A.A. Ivin), Philosophy of Science and Technology (V.S. Stepin, M.A. Rozov, V.G. Gorokhov), History of Philosophy (N.V. Motroshilova), History of Oriental Philosophical Traditions (M.T. Stepanyants, V.K. Shokhin) and others. Fellows of the Institute are also engaged in intense pedagogical activity. More than twenty research scholars form the Institute each year get invited to lecture at leading Western and Eastern universities.
The Department of Philosophical Anthropology at the Faculty of Philosophy of Moscow Lomonossov State University has been created as a branch of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences; fellows of the Institute are also Heads of other Departments in Moscow University and other institutions of higher education in Moscow.
